Girls’n'cars

June 27th, 2011 2 comments

Today a friend of my told me that her boyfriend just said to her, that if she was a car, she would be an Alfa Romeo (Spider, she didn’t remember from which year). She seemed to be very happy about that.

Italian cars are also one of my main interests in life, and I have discussed the level of sans-mindness in driving italian cars with alot of people. So from that, I know that in general, people’s opinion about Alfa Romeo cars are that they malfunction a lot and are expensive to maintain. Which I of course also told my friend…

But. As I use to say to people who object (which they do remarkably often, propably some kind of jealousy) against what car I choose to drive: “I much rather prefer a car that malfunction sometimes, than a car that is ugly and boring all the time”. No one have given an answer to that yet. And I guess that counts for girlfriends as well… :)

Backward messages still going strong

June 25th, 2011 No comments

I was just listening to Ghost’s excellent album “Opus Eponymous” from 2010. The organ in the intro track “Deus culpa” sound somewhat strange when at the end of every tone, just as it was a recording played backwards. So I thought I should examine that… Imported the song into Cubase and performed a “reverse” on the track.

And the resultat was very easy to recognize to say the least. It was a swedish christmas carol called “Gläns över sjö och strand” (you can listen a version here: Körberg – Gläns över sjö och strand) played on a church organ, and than reversed. Good to know :)

The album, if you haven’t heard it, is great anyway. And you should also try to find the Japanese bonus track “Here comes the sun” (yes, a Beatles cover, but they really made the song sound like Ghost), but you should listen to “sun” as “son”. Which fits the lyric concepts on the album much better…

Just before midsummer

June 23rd, 2011 1 comment

Today two songs where sent away, to be mixed. We’re very excited to hear what Valle will do with the songs. I did the first mixing for the songs myself, which was ok, but our intention is that it should be much better.

But there are a norweigan band which will have their songs mixed before Valle starts with ours. Yesterday a wedding and now norweigans. But it should be like with the wedding pictures. We hope it will be finished after the swedish midsummer weekend.

Just came from after eating pizza. The sign outside said, “The best and biggest pizza in the area”. Sounded promising. But after finish our meal, we could add something to that; It’s probably the only pizzeria in the area as well. My ex-gf ordered a pizza which among other things should have parmensan cheese. Didn’t find any on the pizza. The explanation was that the boss is to greedy to buy parmensan, it costs to much. “You can have some extra salt instead”. Well, thank you very much…

A beatified reality

June 22nd, 2011 No comments

Yes, that’s what it’s all about in the end. Yesterday, we shot our first common pictures for the band. The one you find on this site right now are, to use a slight understatement, somewhat “straggling” when compared to each other.

Of course, all four members are not very like each other to start with, and we have also decided not to waste time and energy to discuss a strict and common look. I, as well as the rest of the guys, have all been in bands where such discussions have caused wars. And the result of those discussions have still not been worth the effort.

It might however take some time before you will see the result here. Daniel Skilberg (in Swedish only), the photographer, have been working on a lot of weddings lately. Right now he have, accoding to himself, about 1000 pictures to edit before he can start with The Rockford Heroes. So we’ll assume he’s finished after the swedish midsummer weekend.
